From each platform's published guidelines; they change occasionally. The image resizer crops to any of them.
What works
- Ask for one simple shape and "no text". Icons are too small for words.
- For a set, keep the style words identical in every prompt (stroke weight, colors, rendering).
- Check it at 32 px: if you can't tell what it is, simplify.
- Turn the final icon into favicons and app sizes with the favicon generator.
Questions people ask
Can I get SVG icons?
The AI outputs raster images (1024 × 1024). For simple flat icons you can trace them to SVG with a free tool such as Inkscape's "Trace Bitmap". For lettered badges, the logo page's wordmark maker exports true SVG.
How do I keep a set of icons consistent?
Reuse a fixed style sentence, e.g. "flat icon, 2px rounded strokes, charcoal on white, generous padding, no text", and only change the object each time.
Are the icons free for commercial use?
Yes, you own the output. Avoid imitating well-known app icons or brand symbols.
